

Edward “Earl” Roberts, age 79, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away March 2, 2012, at the Medical Lodge Acute Care Center of Kansas City. Funeral service will be 3:00 Wednesday, March 7, at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill-Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
Earl was born May 5, 1932 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Everett and Audrey Humphrey. A lifelong area resident, he was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He worked in construction for several years, including being the owner-operator of E & J Construction and enjoyed building wooden furniture and crafts. He was of the Lutheran faith and loved watching T.V. and playing with his dog. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Dora Lee Wilson and his brother-in-law: Larry Ballard. Survivors include his wife of 40 years: Arla Ballard Roberts; step-daughter: Christina Warren & husband Dave of Covington, Kentucky; grandson: Michel Warren of Covington, Kentucky; sister: Deborah Pate and husband Rupert of Lawrence, Kansas; nephew: Collin Pate of Sydney, Australia; aunt & uncle: Millie & Clyde Griggs of Kansas City, Kansas; sisters-in-law: Fay Loose & husband Jack of Jacksonville, Florida, Kay Ballard of Mesa Arizona and Kathleen Thorson & husband Tom of Casper, Wyoming; brothers-in-law: Wayland Ballard of Stanford, Kentucky, Donnie Ballard & wife Carol of Jacksonville, Florida, Gary Ballard & wife Linda of Crab Orchard, Kentucky and Ralph Ballard of Casper, Wyoming. He is also survived by many more relatives and friends.
