Ellen Mae Cole-Norris was born on February 8, 1935 Atchison, Kansas to Charles S. and Mary Ellen Riddle. Ellen Graduated from Washington High School. She married James E. Cole in March, 1954 in Kansas City, Kansas and James preceded her in death in 2000 at 46 years of marriage.
Ellen Worked at Donnelly College where she retired at the age of 75. She was married to Charles (Jerry) Norris in 2005 and Jerry preceded her in death on January 6th, 2022.
Ellen also was preceded in death by her parents, Charles S Riddle and Mary Ellen Riddle; and brother, Wayne Riddle.
Ellen is survived by daughter, Cindy Helton (Tracy) of Raytown MO; son, Jimmy Cole (Cherie) of Lansing KS; step-children; Deb Horn (Henry) of Basehor, KS; Mike Norris (Nancy) of TX; and Kathe Norris of KS; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Masters (Bill) of Independence MO, Kristi Spencer (Eric) of Piper, KS, Jamie Dinneen (Tim) of Basehor, KS, Alan Greenlee (Renee) of Leavenworth, KS, Terry Greenlee (Brandy) of Piper, KS, Todd Greenlee (Jamie) of Piper, KS, Bradley Cole (Courtney) of Shawnee, KS, Erin Harwig (Rob) of Desoto, KS, Brandon Holden (Megan) of Atlanta, GA, Morgan Helton (Jake) of Raytown, MO, Rae Holden of Emporia KS; 41 great grandchildren; and 12 great great grandchildren with two more on the way.
Ellen has the most loving family, as large as it is and will truly be loved and missed. We will all remember the wonderful times we had with her and Papa Jerry.
A graveside service for Ellen is scheduled for Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 11:30 am at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will be arriving early to greet family and friends that attend. There will be a Celebration of Life for Ellen & Jerry on May 7, 2022 at Wyandotte County Park in Bonner Springs, KS (By Agriculture Hall Of Fame), Shelter C, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. This will be a potluck dinner. The family will provide hamburgers and hot dogs and some of the fixins along with water, tea and lemonade. The park has a "no glass containers" rule if you bring your own cooler. The family hopes to see all of you to remember the wonderful couple.
