Fairy graduated from Ridgefield High School in Washington in 1956. After graduation, she worked for Nabisco for several years before marrying Keith Schmitz and moving to Denver, Colorado. There, they started their family, and enjoyed many wonderful memories camping and fishing in the mountains. In 1970, they left Denver, briefly stopping in Houston, Texas, for a year before settling in Overland Park, Kansas.
Fairy dedicated herself to raising her two children while also pursuing her passion for beauty and creativity by attending cosmetology school. With her bubbly personality, natural talent, and ability to connect with people, she thrived in her career and eventually became a manager at The Jones Store Company, where she spent more than 15 years.
Later in life, Fairy married Norman Trowbridge, and together they blended their families with two sons and two daughters. They shared a beautiful marriage for 43 years. Fairy loved dancing, traveling, fishing, and spending time with family and friends, but above all, her faith in our Lord was the foundation of her life.
Fairy had many hobbies and talents. She enjoyed bowling, needlework, crocheting, oil painting, wood carving, and cooking. She was especially known for making the best potato salad you have ever had—a recipe and memory her family will cherish forever.
Fairy is survived by her loving husband, Norman Trowbridge; her children, Mike & Karen Schmitz, , Teri Craner & Mike Hallahan, Todd & Susan Trowbridge, and Shelly Dakil; her grandchildren and (great-grandchildren): Tiffany & Brendan Dowdle (Grace and Declan), Michael & Lindsay Schmitz (Sullivan), Matt Schmitz, Nikki & Phil Carselowey (Beckett and Brielle), Justin & Shay Craner, Josh & Zoe Dakil, Ryan Trowbridge and Cole Trowbridge.
Fairy’s love, laughter, faith, and kindness touched everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
