

Florence Oquist, 85, of KCK, passed away July 31, 2013 surrounded by family. Funeral services will be noon, Monday, August 5, 2013 at Chapel Hill-Butler, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. The visitation will be from 11-noon at the funeral home. Interment will follow the services in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Villa St. Francis, 16600 W. 126th St., Olathe, KS 66062.
Florence was born February 7, 1928 in Moore, Texas to Lorenzo and Gregoria (Aguilar) Moralez. She grew up in Texas and attended Business College. While in Texas, she met and married Carl E. Oquist, Jr. Florence worked for Lackland Air Force Base in personnel for twenty years before moving with her family to Kansas, where she worked at Ft. Leavenworth for ten years, retiring in 1983. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking, crafting and painting. Florence also enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorenzo and Gregoria Moralez, her husband Carl E. Oquist, Jr. in 1993 and eight siblings.
Florence is survived by her daughter, Audrey Budai (Michael) of Olathe, KS; two granddaughters, Jennifer Bunch (Matthew) of Brookside, MO and Jamie Pike (Kevin) of Overland Park, KS; two great-granddaughters, Amelia Bella-Marie Bunch and Olivia Alise Pike; brother, Juan Moralez (Rosa) of San Antonio, TX; two sisters, Connie Sharkey of Ft. Worth, TX and Sophia Guana of Carson City, NV, as well as many other family members and friends.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff of Villa St. Francis for their kindness and loving care of mom, especially the Goddess Joan, Lisa, Felicia, Sister Celine, Marlise and Grace, without whose kindness and loving support, we couldn’t have made it through this difficult time, as well as Crossroads Hospice.
