Francis “Ed” Edward Jennings Jr., 90 of Des Moines, IA and formally from Kansas City, Kansas passed away May 9, 2022 in Eldora, IA. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, May 13, 2022 from 5-7 pm at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 10 am at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1086 N. 94th St, Kansas City, Kansas. A graveside service will be immediately following Mass at Mt. Calvary’s address is 1150 N. 38th St., Kansas City.
Ed was born on May 22, 1932 in Kansas City, Kansas. He lived in Kansas City for 40 years before making his home in Des Moines, IA for his remaining 50 years.
Ed was a practicing Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus and a leader in the Boy Scouts when his kids were younger. He was a beer distributor for nearly 40 years and never really retired, having a variety of part time jobs to keep himself busy into his 80s.
Ed has an impressive collection of beer paraphernalia and trucker hats. He loved to hunt and fish (including spear fishing in his younger days).
Ed is survived by his children; Paul Jennings of Indianapolis, Indiana, Matthew (Tina) Jennings of Phoenix Arizona and Elizabeth Jennings of Mauston, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Jaclyn, Marlene, Raymond, Jasmine, Adele, Simon, Bradly, and Bobby; and brothers and sisters Doris Schnieders, Peggy Murphy, Ray Jennings, Charles (Jake) Jennings, and numerous cousins.
Ed lost the love of his life and wife of 62 years on December 7, 2020, Judith “Judy” Marie (Line) Jennings. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Francis Edward Jennings and Dorthy (Overcash) Jennings; and brothers and sisters, Robert Jennings, Betty Tebbe, and Mary Ellen Coffman.
