Gene Allen Moore, 71, Kansas City, Kansas passed away November 12, 2017. A gathering of family and friends will be from 1-3 PM with a memorial service at 3 PM, Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Heartland Hospice.
Gene was born August 17, 1946 in Mt. View, Arkansas to Millard and Maye Moore. He moved to the Kansas City area when he was four years old. He graduated from Wyandotte High School and then joined the Army in 1965.
Gene was married to Leona Armstrong on September 7, 1968 at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas. They recently celebrated 49 years of marriage.
Gene worked as a diesel mechanic at Kansas City Mack Trucks for 38 years and then worked for Westfall GMC until his retirement in 2009. In his spare time, he enjoyed wood carving, mowing, spending time with his family, and going to church.
He was preceded in passing by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Leona; children, Amy Moore and Todd Moore; one granddaughter, Gabrielle Ross; sister, Kay (Jack) Winkle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
