Geneva Fletcher was born in Bigelow, Arkansas on July 16,1935, to the late, Wesley and Mandy Fletcher. She confessed of Christ at an early age at St. Paul A.M.E. in Morrilton, Arkansas and became a faithful member at Mount Zion COGIC, Kansas City, Kansas, in 1956 under the leadership of the late Bishop J. E. Abernathy. Geneva continued her membership under current leadership of Pastor Peter Pulliam and served as a faithful member and leader of the Pastor’s Aide Committee, Home Foreign Admission, & other auxiliaries.
Carl and Geneva were schoolmates and later married in 1953; and to this union six children were born: Terry, David, Don, Jeanette, Michael, and Angel. She was educated at Bigelow Elementary and Sullivan High School in Morrilton, Arkansas. Geneva received an Associate Degree in Nursing at the Kansas City, Kansas Community College. She worked multiple jobs and then retired after 28 years of faithful and dedicated service in nursing at the St. Luke’s Hospital. Geneva continued as a nanny and caretaker for assisting families and also her immediate family who had special needs.
In one of Geneva’s past times, she was well known for her cooking; and well known for her delicious double crusted peach cobbler’s; along with her scrumpdillyicious sweet potato pies. She enjoyed gardening, embroidery, and loved going to church and singing old, old gospel hymns. Geneva was stylish, and very graceful, adorning herself with her beautiful hats and her beautiful fashion designs. When she walked into the room, her smile showed a symbol of holiness, goodness, & joyfulness. She was meek with qualities having knowledge and full of life’s wisdom. She was a jewel!
Geneva is proceeded in death by her husband, Carl E. Stricklen, and she was a devoted wife and mother. She loved all of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and everyone that crossed her path.
