

Georgia L. Pettis, 92, of Bonner Springs, Kansas passed away January 15, 2013. Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, January 21st at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas. Private inurnment to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the MedicaLodge of Eudora's Activities Program, 1415 Maple Street, Eudora, Kansas 66025 or Southern Care Hospice, 11031 Strang Line Road, Lenexa, Kansas 66215.
Georgia was born August 23, 1920 in Lakin, Kansas to George Wesley and Jessie (Anderson) Jones. She graduated from Lawrence High School and there developed a love for learning. Georgia shared that love of learning by teaching English and Theatre for over twenty years. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Bonner Springs. Georgia loved flowers of all kinds, but pansies were her favorite.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Jessie Jones, her beloved husband, John A. Pettis, and her siblings, Eldred Jones and Madge Eva MacArthur.
Georgia will be missed by her three children, Judy Frankhouser and her husband George of Henderson, Nevada, Jennifer Veerkamp and her ex, Paul both of Lawrence area, John Pettis, II and his wife Loree of Gallatin, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, John B. Frankhouser and his wife Jennifer, Douglas V. Frankhouser, David S. Frankhouser and his wife Sonia, Honna Veerkamp, Mandolin Veerkamp and her husband Malcon Orji, Eli Veerkamp and his wife Kate, JoyAnne Foster and her husband Matthew, John Pettis, III and his wife Brandi; ten great-grandchildren, Riley, Collin, Reagan, Hailey & Abby Frankhouser, Jonah Veerkamp, Uchenna Orji, River Foster, and Treyson and Ivy Pettis; nieces and nephews, Becky, Sally, John, Forrest, Don, Jerry, David and Kelsey as well as many other family members and friends.
