Gerald was born on May 3, 1942, in Kansas City, Kansas to Gerald Molder, Sr. and Pauline (Neff) Molder. He passed away on September 5, 2026 at his home in Kansas City, Kansas.
He graduated from Washington High School in 1960 then served four years in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1964, Serving first on the U.S.S. Jason followed by the U.S.S. Telfair.
Gerald married Dorothy Welsh, of Joplin, Missouri, in 1963 and they recently celebrated 63 years of marriage. Together they had three daughters.
Gerald was a union electrician for I.B.E.W. Local 124 and worked in construction for several years. He spent the majority of his career with the U.S.D. 500, Kansas City, Kansas, where he worked for over 30 years as an electrician and foreman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Larry Molder and Gary Molder; two sisters, Patricia Golden and infant Leona Christine Molder; two nephews, Clinton Molder and Mike Molder; an infant daughter Paula Michelle Molder and one granddaughter, Meredith Pauline Thurlow.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Dottie), of the home; two daughters, Susan Sheldon and Andra Cunningham (Shaun); four grandchildren, Benjamin Pitts, Maria Sheldon (Tianna), Amanda Ukens (Chris), and Galen Thurlow (Holly); and three great-grandchildren. He loved them all greatly.
A visitation will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112 on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Memorial Service will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home on Wednesday September 16, 2026, at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
A private family burial will be held at a later date at the U.S. National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas.
