

Dean Carrico, 78, of Tonganoxie, KS, passed away suddenly on March 5, 2015 at home, surrounded by family. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, March 9th at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 10th at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Foundation.
Dean was born November 12, 1936 in Colecamp, MO to Gilbert and Wyonetta Carrico. He attended Piper High School, where he met his wife, Nita Rensch. They married and lived in the KCK area until 2001, when they moved to the house Dean built for them in Tonganoxie, Kansas. Dean worked for the Gas Service Company for 37 years, and then he drove a school bus for the Basehor school district. He was a very active and hardworking man; his greatest pride was his family. Dean was an avid KU Basketball fan, a lover of country music, and a boating aficionado.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Donald Gene Carrico. Dean is survived by his beloved wife, Nita Carrico; his children, Deborah Tate (Michael) of Linwood, and Dean Carrico (Kathye) of Tonganoxie; his grandchildren, Courtney Chavez (Tony), Christopher Gilchrest (Rachel), Bobby Carrico, and Kellye Carrico; his great-grandchildren, Alayna, Samuel and Ava Chavez, and Brandon Gilchrest; his sister, Shirley Cole-Lee; as well as many other family members and friends.
