Glen B. Burton, 90, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away February 24, 2018 at home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 3rd, with visitation time from 10-11am preceding the service all at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home. Interment with Honors will be 1:30pm, Saturday, March 3rd at the Memorial Park of St. Joseph, 4929 Frederick Blvd., St. Joseph, MO 64506. Memorial contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice.
Glen was born April 1, 1927 in St. Joseph, MO to Everett and Audrey Burton. He graduated from Benton High School in 1944 and was drafted into WWII shortly thereafter. Glen served in the Army until Nov. 5, 1946. After returning, he worked for a short time in the St. Joseph meat packing plant before leaving to attend business school. After receiving his accounting certificate, Glen worked as an accountant and controller for a variety of trucking companies. He was married three times, the first to Shirley Ebling, the second to Beverly Hamilton, and lastly to Naomi Eastwood, though he was divorced at the time of his passing. Glen enjoyed dancing, playing bridge, and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Burton and Audrey Foster; his daughter, Mindy Sue Burton; his step-son, Patrick Kerner; and his sister, Joyce Pike.
Glen is survived by his daughters, Glenda Rigdon (Mark Propst), and Rebecca Carleton (Will); his step-children, James Kerner (Jeannie), Kathryn Christie (Scott), and Jennifer Rueckert (Brian); his sister, Donna McCulloch (Jim); his grandchildren, Brooke Leichty (Ben), Blake Henderson, and Katie Carleton; and two great-grandchildren, Rachelle and Sadie Leichty.
