May 31, 1953 – September 1, 2025
Gregory John Ham, beloved husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend, entered his heavenly home on Labor Day, September 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family and the peace of Christ. Born on Memorial Day in Washington, Missouri, Greg was the youngest of four children welcomed by Vada Christman Ham and Wesley John Ham. Raised alongside his three older sisters—Lana, Glenda, and Rhonda—Greg developed a gift for connection and communication that would define his life.
Greg’s early years in Seattle were marked by curiosity and creativity, but also hardship. After his parents’ divorce, he faced a season of darkness and rebellion. Yet, through the persistent prayers of his family and the grace of God, Greg’s life took a transformative turn at age 19 when he moved to his grandparents’ farm in Union, Missouri. There, surrounded by love and faith, Greg encountered the redeeming power of Jesus Christ and embraced a new life of purpose and hope.
Greg’s journey led him to MidAmerica Nazarene College, where he studied Biblical studies and art under the mentorship of James Dobson, Sr. Though he left college to tour with the Christian band “Simple Truth,” Greg’s passion for music and ministry never waned. He later studied illustration under Harry Freidman and continued to play drums in worship and secular bands throughout his life.
In 1978, Greg married the love of his life, Debbie—the “woman of my youth and girl of my dreams.” Together, they built a home filled with laughter, faith, and four beautiful children: Jessica, Nathan, Elise, and David. Greg’s devotion to his family was unwavering, and his legacy lives on in the lives of his children and 14 grandchildren.
Greg worked at Hallmark for 42 years, retiring in 2020. His colleagues became lifelong friends, and his creative spirit left a lasting imprint. Beyond work, Greg poured his heart into youth ministry at Westside, mentoring countless young men with authenticity, wisdom, and love. He was a man without deceit, whose quiet strength and deep compassion touched everyone he met.
In September 2024, Greg was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. After a courageous battle and a complex surgery, he was gifted with 11 precious months—a time filled with meaningful trips, cherished memories, and deep connection with his family. Even in illness, Greg’s faith never wavered, and his joy remained radiant.
Greg’s final days were marked by peace and gratitude. He completed his earthly race with endurance and entered eternity embraced by his Savior. Though we grieve his absence, we rejoice in the promise of reunion and the enduring impact of a life well-lived.
Greg is survived by his wife Debbie, their children and grandchildren, his sister, and a wide circle of family, friends, and mentees who carry his light forward.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” —Matthew 25:23
