

Harold L. “Butch” Short, 84, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on February 26, 2021 at Providence Place Rehabilitation. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 10:00 am at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112.
Harold was born on November 23, 1936 in Kansas City, Kansas. He was married on June 1, 1958 to Judy Kay Eversole Short. They were married for 63 years. Butch graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1954. He served 3 years in the U.S. Army, 2 years in Germany. He had a Sinclair Service Station in Riverside, MO., worked at CJ Ditch Digging driving the truck and KC Tow before becoming an over the road truck driver retiring from Farmland Coop NKC, then retiring from Overnight Transportation. Then Butch worked part time for Assisted Transportation and then Enterprise Leasing. Butch was a member of Central Methodist Church, 50 year member of Sherman Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Abdallah Shrine, Order of the Eastern Star and Nomad Shrine Club Texas. Butch and Judy loved to travel in their RV and spent many winters in Texas. He loved country music and going to country western opry’s, especially Annie’s Country Jubilee in Tonganoxie, KS.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents Beatrice Lyle and Harold L. Short, Sr. and sister Beverly Jean Blagg.
Survivors include his wife Judy Kay Short, nieces Brenda Blagg Smith and Bridget Blagg Everett, nephew Brent Blagg; several great nieces and nephews, along with numerous great-great nieces and nephews; and his beloved cats Sugar and Spice.
Butch would give you the shirt off his back and helped many people throughout his life.
