Harry James (Jim) Walker, born February 12, 1939, and passed peacefully, August 6, 2026. “Jim” grew up in Kansas City, Missouri with his parents, Harry and Beulah Walker, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. He attended Redemptorist Catholic High School where he was a star football player with many accolades awarded. And later in life, enjoyed passing on that love of sports to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
In 1956, married his one and only love, Mary Patricia Ruby – his high school sweetheart. They enjoyed traveling and raising their 4 children, Renee Marie, Harry James Jr., William Joseph, and John Fitzgerald.
In 1970, they all moved to Tonganoxie, KS and shortly joined the Sacred Heart Catholic Parish and are still members to this day. One of Jim’s greatest joys was passing out Tootsie Roll Pops to the young and the young-at-heart weekly after mass.
Jim co-purchased the Lawrence Livestock Auction in 1981 in Lawrence, KS. His love for raising cattle led to many long friendships and business partnerships.
Jim also co-founded Action Chemical Company where even after retirement 3 of his clients continued to only do business with him. Jack, Chris, and Rick maintained a close friendship with Jack and Jim being “best of friends” for over 50 years.
Jim is survived by his wife, Mary Pat, his daughter, Renee, and sons, Bill, and John. Also, brother, Kenneth, and sister, Faith Ann. He has 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Beulah Walker, his sisters, Maxine, Mary Valencia, Juanita and his brothers, Richard and Michael. His oldest son, Harry James, Jr. (Jim).
Pallbearers will be his 7 grandsons: Michael Orr, Jimmy Walker III, Jacob Walker, Justin Walker, Joe Walker, Adam Walker, and Tanner Walker.

Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Parish, 1100 West St., Tonganoxie, KS 66086 on Friday, August 14, 2026, beginning with Visitation at 8:00 AM, Recitation of the Rosary at 9:40 AM, Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM with interment directly following in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, same location. Luncheon to follow committal at Sacred Heart Catholic Parish.
