The son of Louise M. Thomas and Dave Thomas. Uncle Yea Yea as he was known by his family was born on July 10, 1965, in Bolivar MS and moved to Kansas City Kansas at the age of five, he had lived in the Kansas City Kansas area all his adult life. He attended Blessed Sacrament grade school, Bishop Ward High School and graduated from Wyandotte High School. In grade and high school, he excelled in football, and basketball, as well as in boxing.
Uncle Yea Yea was his family defender, fighter, and warrior. He will be missed. He was a devoted and loving brother, uncle, and friend to many. He loved to spend time with his family and friend that time usually included family get together, dinner, games and playing dominos. But his favorite pastime was family get together, watching his Dallas Cowboys play, reading, and watching old western movies especially Gunsmoke.
Hewitt Jason was preceded in death by his mother Louise M. Thomas, his father Dave C. Thomas, his grandparents, and a brother David G. Thomas. He leaves to mourn his passing 2 brothers Marvin D. Thomas and Douglas W. Thomas of Kansas City, Kansas; 8 sisters Katherine L. Williams, Clara M. Scott, Dempsey L. Thomas, Pauline T. Blount, Tracie S. Thomas, Brenda F. Thomas and Gwendolyn S. Thomas of Kansas City, Kansas, Loretta L Holmes and her husband Peter of Cleveland, Mississippi. Nephews and Nieces; Alton C. Nickles, Spencer T. Scott, Katrina E. Holmes, Tanya D. Scott, Maurice D. Holmes, Terrance J. Scott, Thurman L. Williams Jr., Nicholas D. Thomas, Nichole D. Thomas, Ashley L. Thomas, Tanisha E. Thomas, Anasazi L. Hatley, and Kayona D. Latimer and a host of great and grand nephews and nieces.
Hewitt “Jason” family wishes to thank the staff and doctors of the University of Kansas Hospital and the Cancer Institute for their Love, Care, and attention they showed “Jason” and our family during his final “Journey”.

A visitation for Hewitt will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Chapel Hill - Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00.
