James E. “Ed” Bailey, 95, of Kansas City, Kansas, went to be with his Lord, July 31, 2011.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 8, in the Memorial Park Cemetery, 1517 E. 15th Street, Lawrence, Kansas. A Celebration Of James’ Life will be from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, August 27, at Victory Hills Senior Living, 1900 N. 70th St., Kansas City, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 1001 E. 101st Terrace, Suite 180, Kansas City, Missouri 64131.
James was respected and loved by so many people over his 95 years and he will always live in the hearts of his family and friends. Born February 18, 1916 in Lawrence, Kansas, he drove for Continental / Trailways for over 33 years, driving over 2 million miles without an accident.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years: Marie Pringle Bailey and his wife of 33 years: Nellie J. Carter Bailey; parents: Herbert and Anna Bailey; and brother: Loren Bailey.
Survivors include his sisters: Lois Harrell of Lawrence, Kansas and Vera Dunn and husband Duane of Iowa; daughters: Deana J. Shafer of Parkville, Missouri and Ann M. Rash and husband of Otis of Parkville, Missouri; step-sons: James A. Carter and wife Linda of Bonner Springs, Kansas and Gerold Carter and wife Sharon of Branson West, Missouri; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
