James Wesley Barnes, 86, Kansas City, Kansas passed away August 11, 2017. A memorial visitation will be from 5-5:30 PM with a celebration of life from 5:30-7 PM, Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Cremation will take place with his final resting area being at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to American Heart Association, 6800 W. 93rd St., Overland Park, Kansas 66212.
James served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He then became a telephone technician for Bell Systems.
He is preceded in passing by his son, Gary J. Barnes.
James is survived by his sister, Carmen Nelson; brother, Phillip Warson; daughters, Sherrie Adsitt and Debbie Grochala; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
