James Matthew Frederick Bernard

James Matthew Frederick Bernard, 39, of Paola, Kansas passed away Friday, March 5, 2010 at Olathe Medical Center. A Visitation and Service of Remembrance will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home 701 N. 94th Street Kansas City, KS. Cremation to follow. A private burial will take place at a later date. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society. James was born on November 22, 1970 in Kansas City KS to James Edward and Mary Anne (Heitmeyer) Bernard. He was a graduate of Bishop Ward High School in 1989. He worked as a truck driver for the Pepsi Cola Co. James was an active member of Teamsters Local Union #955. He enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking along side with his son, and supported and attended all of his sons sports activities. James never met a stranger, he enjoyed talking and meeting new friends. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. James was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Paola, KS. He is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents. Survivors include his mother:Mary Anne Bernard, father: James Edward Bernard and his partner (Donna Hunter), wife of 17 years: Carrie (Painter) Bernard, son: James Edward Bernard, 2 sisters: Marty Anne Jones, and Jamie Bernard-Drakey, brother: James Edward Bernard Jr. and wife Maria. James was a loving son and brother, devoted husband and loving dad.He will be sadly missed and will live forever in our hearts.
