

James “Jimmy” Russell Cady, Jr., 65, of Leavenworth, passed away June 30, 2014 at St. Luke’s Cushing Hospital in Leavenworth. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 5th at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1086 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas; with Memorial Mass to take place at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Inurnment will occur privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the James R. Cady, Jr. Memorial Fund at KUMC Credit Union, 12510 W. 62nd Terrace, Suite 104, Shawnee, Kansas 66216.
Jimmy was born August 23, 1948 in Kansas City, Missouri to James Russell, Sr. and Geraldine Cady. He has lived in the KC area his entire live and earned his bachelor’s degree at Pittsburg State with a scholarship for vocal performance. Jimmy served his country in the Navy, was a member of the Disabled American Veterans organization and a Purple Heart recipient. He was an avid Chiefs fan, a gifted runner in his early years, a published writer, and recorded voiceovers in the 1970s. Jimmy enjoyed playing black jack and reading and had a big sweet tooth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Russell Cady, Sr. and Geraldine Cady. Jimmy is survived by his son, Patrick Cady; his siblings, Judy Lockwood (Larry) and Stephen Cady (Kelly); his nephews, Reverend Dr. Stephen Cady, II, Matthew-Michael L. Creed, Nathan Creed and Mitchell Creed; his nieces, Lindsay Sakamoto and Angela Davis as well as good friends John and Mary.
