

James E. Cranston, 75, of Kansas City, KS passed away Thursday, August 26, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday, prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice.
James was born on November 29, 1934 in Kansas City, KS to George E. and Catherine E. (Saunders) Cranston. He attended Wyandotte High School, and he served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. James worked as a warehouseman, and truck driver. He was a faithful member and Deacon of Sunset Hills Christian Church. He enjoyed being involved with his grandkids, and will always be remembered as a loving and caring foster parent. James is preceded in death by his father; George E. Cranston, and son; James (Freddie) Cranston. Survivors include his mother; Catherine E. Cranston, wife of fifty years of marriage, and the love of his life; Carol L. Cranston of the home, three daughters; Marie Hines of Riverside, MO., Kimberley Dobbins and her husband Frank of Kansas City, KS., Joanna Woods and her husband Jerry of Tonganoxie, KS., and Mary Stremming and her husband Ron of Kansas City, KS. James is also survived by his son; James R. Cranston and his wife Karen of Gladstone, MO. Left behind to cherish his memory are his ten beloved grandchildren; Dellie Merry, Heather Dobbins, Dale Hines II, Frank Dobbins II, Kayla Cranston, Samuel Hines, Tiffany Woods, Kyl Stremming, Travis Woods and Nicholas Cranston.
