James Ray Eisman, 66, passed away peacefully with his children by his side on January 2, 2022. Jim was born on December 13, 1955, in Kansas City, Kansas to Nick and Evelyn Eisman. He grew up in a loving home with his parents and four siblings (Nick, Lisa, John and Leigh Ann). Jim graduated from Washington High School in 1973. Soon after, he married Susan Langford and they were blessed with three children: Megan, Angie, and Alan. He later married Diana Shrewsbury. They shared 32 happy and fun years together prior to her passing in 2018. Jim and Diana were gifted with a son, Kenny.
Jim had a successful career as a machinist and machine programmer at Twin City Tool, TWA, and Fairbanks Morse/Pentair Pump. Over 30 years of hard work and determination led him to management positions. Jim was passionate about being involved in his children’s activities including coaching baseball, being a band dad, attending dance recitals, and teaching life lessons.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and water sports. He was an original member of the Olathe Bass Club and participated in many fishing tournaments at both the local and national levels. One of his greatest accomplishments was being a part of the team that won the U.S. Bass Club Championship at Truman Lake in 1984.
Jim had many hobbies including bowling, golf and maintaining a pristine lawn. He had a talent for finishing basements and building decks on his own homes and for any brother or friend that needed a hand with theirs. Jim enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends, sharing an Old Charter or “Captain” and telling jokes. He rarely missed a Chiefs or Royals game, or episode of The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. Jim had a stroke in 2008. Despite poor odds for a favorable outcome, he continued to love life and be active in the lives of his family and friends over 13 years.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Nick and Evelyn Eisman, his sister Lisa Smith, and his wife Diana. Survivors include his children: Megan Ashcraft (John), Angie Wolken (Ray), Alan Eisman (Meagan) and Kenny Eisman; his siblings: Nick Eisman, John Eisman (Mary Kay) and Leigh Ann Wohletz (Vince); his beloved grandchildren Kailani, Noah, Dylan, Jaiden, Nevaeh, Claire, Beckam and Marley; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
