James was born on August 18, 1934 in Camden, Arkansas to the late Sidney and Jessie A. (Hill) Jones. He graduated from high school in Arkansas and went on to serve in the United States Army. He made his home in Kansas City, Kansas and retired from General Motors after 32 years. He was a member at Wyandotte United Methodist Church in Kansas City, Kansas.
James was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was well loved and will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.
Left to always cherish his memory is his loving wife of 44 years, Lorene B. Jones; two sons, Gregory and M. Jones of Oakland, California; one brother, James H. Jones of Renton, Washington; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.
A funeral service will occur Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM, at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, KS 66112. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, also at the funeral home. A graveside service will be immediately following at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
