A visitation for "Jim" will be held Friday, May 21, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Chapel Hill - Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. A graveside service with military honors will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas.
Jim served eight years in the United States Marine Corp. He enlisted on March 19, 1955. He was honorably discharged on March 18, 1963 as an E# Lance Corporal. He was stationed at the naval air station in Memphis, TN. Jim met Carolyn in August of 1963 and they were married August 27, 1966. During his lifetime, Jim owned and operated Skelly Gas Station in Shawnee Mission, KS. Then he was a store manager for Jerry's Auto in Kansas City, MO. He also worked in the auto parts department at the Dodge dealership in Guthrie, OK. Jim retired in 2010 from Sam's Club. He was an avid fisherman, gun enthusiast and Amazon shopper.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Edward Robert Lee and Ola Fay Coopwood and daughter Briggitte and son James Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Scarbrough, brother Jerry Scarbrough and his wife Connie, brother Jack Scarbrough and wife Betty, grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
