Jim was born on May 24, 1938, in Kansas City, MO to Earl and Florence Wetherton.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1958-1962.
On June 11, 1960, he married the love of his life, Beverly S. Jenkins, and together they shared 65 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, family and memories.
Jim dedicated much of his life to his career with KCPL in Kansas City, MO, where he worked as a lineman before later transferring to management in Lenexa, KS. He devoted 35 years to the company before retirement. After retiring from KCPL, he continued working with Capital Electric and Par Electric.
Known lovingly as “Pops”, he treasured time spent with his family and enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He always had a smile when he was helping others. His kindness, work ethic and love for those around him will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly Wetherton, Daughter, DeRecia Wade (Eric), Grandsons: Jimmie Wade (Connie), Jordan Wade (Amy) and Chopper Wade (Kennedy) and four Great Grandchildren, Hunter Farmer, Fletcher Wade, Wilson Wade and Deklin Wade. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce Jennings of Kearney, MO.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Earl and Florence Wetherton, his brother Patrick Wetherton and Great Grandchild Noa River Wade.
Pops legacy of love, strength and devotion to family will live on in all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112, on May 8, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, with the Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 pm at the same location. He will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
