J.D. was born November 11, 1934 in Hazen, Arkansas to Raymond Earl and Vera Cloten (Perry) Davis. He grew up in Hazen, Arkansas and right after high school, joined the United States Army. J.D. served in the Army for four years during the Korean War before receiving an honorable discharge and moving to Kansas City, Kansas. He worked for Proctor and Gamble for 30+ years before retiring. J.D. enjoyed watching Joel Olsteen Ministries, as well as Chiefs, Royals and KU games from his living room. In his free time, he could often be found fishing but received the most joy from spending time with his grandkids and cooking for everyone, any chance he got. Our family remembers his Arkansas Spaghetti and BBQ being his favorite dishes to cook and our favorite to eat.
J.D. was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Vera; and sisters, Marie Kirk, Louise (Merle) Kane, Kari Borden and Carolynn Woods.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 58 years, Mary (Pettey) Davis; daughters, Vicki Genz and Kim (Donnie) Billings; grandchildren, Amber (Jeremy) Espy, Jason Weltz, Brad Genz, Megan (Gary) McCrory and Cortney Weltz; great-grandchildren, Bailey and Adam Espy, Braeden Moore, Carson and Callie Jo McCrory and one on the way.
