Jerry Lee Nichols Sr.

Jerry Lee Nichols Sr, age 83, of Gardner, Kansas, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026 in Olathe, Kansas. He was born on July 3, 1943, in Topeka, Kansas, to Charles Donald Nichols and Helen Rose Shafer Nichols.

He will be remembered for his humor, strength, strong work ethic and deep devotion to his family. He worked as a roofer for Roofers Local Union #20 for over 50 years. He was active in his church community and found joy in the simple things in life—early morning fishing, working on cars, family gatherings, and especially making people laugh. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, often in quiet ways that meant more than words could express. His kindness, laughter, and unwavering strength touched the lives of everyone who knew him.

Above all, Jerry cherished his family and the time they shared together. Though deeply missed, Jerry’s love remains with his family and friends with every story shared, every lesson remembered, and every quiet act of kindness he inspired. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

A Visitation will we held from 10:00 - 11:00 am followed by the Funeral at 11:00 am on Friday August 21st at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 701 N 94th St, Kansas City, Kansas 66112, with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Lunch will be held at Prairie Center Church of God, 105 S Montclaire Dr, Olathe, Kansas 66061.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Helen Nichols; daughter Janie Marie; siblings Robert Nichols, Donald Nichols, Mark Nichols & Marilyn Messick.

He is survived by his wife of 60+ years Linda Kay (Weigel) Nichols; siblings Charlie (Sandy) Nichols, Mary (Lonny) Young, Susan (Daniel) Vogel & Gordan Spencer; children Jerry Lee (Noemi) Nichols Jr, Billy (Dawn) Nichols, Elizabeth (Kevin) Coutu, Paul (Pauline) Nichols, David (Deborah) Nichols, William Nichols; 10 grandchildren Scott Phillips, Todd Burk, Juston Nichols, Brittany Burk, Bailey Nichols, Morgan Waters, Montse Anza, Brett Nichols, Zachary Nichols and Josie Nichols: and 6 great-grandchildren Bentley Nichols, Daniel Nichols, Max Nichols, Scarlett Waters, Weston Nichols and Oaklynn Nichols and many Nieces and Nephews and other adopted grandchildren and great grandchildren.
