

He was a graduate of Washington High School (1961) where he met his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Donna Pinkelman. The two were married on July 6th, 1963 and lived in Germany where Jim served in the 1st Missile Battalion, 67th Artillery Division. Jim enlisted in the Army in 1963 and served until 1968. After his service, he worked for the Board of Public Utilities and retired after 33 years.
Jim took great pride in helping his wife Donna, raise two rambunctious boys, never missing their endless sporting and school events as both a coach and a parent. He was an avid sportsman, never missing an opportunity to go fishing or hunting. His true passion though were his two grandchildren. He cherished the role of “grandpa”, always there to support, provide guidance and if all else fails, take the grandkids for ice cream if they were having a bad day. Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a provider, a protector and patriot, who will forever be in our hearts.
Jim is survived by his two sons Jimmie R. DeGraw, Jr. and Wesley David DeGraw, his two grandchildren Mitchell Andrew DeGraw and Macey Ann DeGraw. His granddaughter-in-law Corinne (Pyne) DeGraw. He was preceded in death by his wife Donna K. DeGraw (Pinkelman) and parents Jim and Velma DeGraw.
Jim will be laid to rest in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112.
