Jo Ann H. Estes, 90, Edwardsville, Kansas passed away June 21, 2022. A gathering of family and friends will be from 11am-12pm with a funeral service beginning at 12pm on Friday, July 1, 2022 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas. A graveside service will be immediately following in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Jo Ann was born on May 20, 1932 in Pickering, Missouri to Charles R., Sr. and Florice (Morrow) Hagee. She attended Northwest State Teacher’s College in Marysville, Missouri and worked for USD #500 as an inventory clerk from 1975-1996. After taking a few years off, she went back to work as a secretary for White Church Christian Church from 2000-2010. She was a devoted Christian and anyone that knew Jo Ann well was aware that if she wasn’t at home, she was most likely at church.
Jo Ann enjoyed camping, crocheting and most of all studying genealogy. Her genealogy research began in 1970 and continued until just weeks before her passing. She even authored nine books about her family history.
Jo Ann was preceded in passing by her parents; her husband, Eldon L. Estes; daughter, Karen K. Edrington; daughter-in-law, Sandra Placke; brothers, Rev. Charles Hagee, Jr. and Gary Hagee; and sister, Sue N. Nauman.
Left to always remember her are her children, son, David P. (Lori) Estes, Brenda J. Estes, Tracy A. Estes and Phillip M. Estes; seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and many great great grandchildren.
