Joan was born in Scott County in Oran, Missouri on January 21, 1944 to Elvin and Flora Killbreth. She attended Wyandotte County High School in Kansas City, Kansas. After high school, Joan worked some time in various factories before her career in home health aide. She was also a member of the First Assembly of God in Gravette, Arkansas for 10 years. Though Joan did not have any children of her own, she was a great mother figure and helped raise her nieces, Ashley Blanton and Kathy Waisanen. The most enjoyable thing in her life came from all the children in the family. Joan was loved by so many and never met a stranger in her life. She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her dear husband of 29 years, William Henry Shields; brother, Michael Killbreth; sister, Mary Parker; and parents, Elvin and Flora (Slinkard) Killbreth.
Left to cherish her memory is her sisters, Brenda Davidson of Leavenworth County, and Diane (Calvin) Wiggins of Leavenworth County; her nieces who were more like her daughters, Ashley Blanton of Highland, Kansas, and Kathy Waisanen of Noel, Missouri; many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews; along with many dear friends.
