JoAnn Marie McCarty, 90 of Tonganoxie, KS passed away peacefully on April 10,2026. Born on May 22, 1935 in Kansas City, KS to Blase and Marie Malnar. She went to Ward High School (KCK) and onto Mount St Scholastica (Atchison, KS) where she graduated in 1953.
JoAnn enjoyed 44 years of marriage to Gary McCarty and raising 6 children. She had several retail jobs and retired from Monticello Trails Middle School cafeteria at the age of 83.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, Gary, her daughter Amy Marvel, sisters; Delores Tramposh and Betty Phillips. She is survived by a sister, Nancy Gripkey, sons; Michael McCarty (Marty), Patrick McCarty, Gary McCarty (Amy) daughters; Denise Gier (Craig), and Vicki Smith (Dennis), 12 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Jo Ann will be laid to rest at Holy Angels Cemetery (Tonganoxie, KS) after a Mass service at Holy Angels Catholic Church 15438 Leavenworth Rd Basehor, KS.
