

Eugene A. “Johnny” Herdman, 87, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at his home in Kansas City, Kansas. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 14th at Zion United Church of Christ, 2711 N. 72nd St. in Kansas City, KS. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Kansas City, KS.
Johnny was born October 9, 1925 in Stranger Township, Kansas to Raymond C. and Elizabeth (Pacha) Herdman. From 1946 until 1955, he lived in Baltimore, MD, but he was a Kansas City Area resident most of his life, working for Proctor & Gamble from 1955 until his retirement in 1991. He was an Army Veteran of W.W.II, serving in the 103rd Infantry. A beloved husband and devoted father, he was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church who enjoyed fishing, gardening flowers and vegetables, and watching his birds.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Evelyn Herdman and Ruby Jaccard; and 6 brothers, Jess Herdman, Frank Herdman, Richard Herdman, Henry Herdman, Raymond Herdman and Lester Herdman.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Roberta May Herdman of the home; 3 children, Mark (Wanda) Herdman, Keith (Jody) Herdman and Robin (Dana) Gronau; 8 grandchildren, David, Ryan, Elizabeth, Kerah, Joseph, Aaron, Travis and Jaclyn; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 brother, Orval Herdman.
