

Joseph E. “Joe” Burks, 94, of Kansas City, KS, passed away Wed., April 15th at St. Luke’s Hospice House. Visitation will be 12:00pm-1:00pm, Sat., April 18th at Calvary Chapel, 2614 S. 18th St., Kansas City, KS. A Celebration of his Life will follow at 1:00pm at the church. Interment with Honors will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS. Memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice House.
Joe was born Feb. 24, 1921 in Jefferson City, MO to Robert and Ester Burks. He served during World War II, in both the Army and Marines. Joe was a member of the Carpenter’s Union and an active member at Calvary Chapel. He married Dona Burks on Nov., 24, 1952. Joe enjoyed family, Nascar, loved the outdoors and working on cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Dona Burks; his daughter, Donna Allen; his daughter-in-law, Teresa Burks; his sisters, Opal Burks, Lorine Bond, Agnes Vacarro, and Helen Birdsong; and his brother, Robert Burks, Jr.
Joe is survived by his son, Larry Burks; his sons-in-law, Bob Myers, and Kenny Allen; his granddaughters, Kim Palmer (Dan), and Amy Allen; his grandsons, Corey Burks (Elizabeth), and Kyle Burks (Carmaylta); his great-grandchildren, Dalton and Britney Palmer, Cheyenne, Dominic, and Hayden Allen, Daniel Garren-Burks, and Caitlin, Madelyn, and Chloe Burks; sisters, Bonnie Presswood, and Nina Atwell; as well as many other family members and friends.
