

Joseph J. Grzybowski, Jr., 68, of KCK, passed away December 8, 2015 at the home. Visitation will be from 4-6pm, Sunday, December 13th at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., KCK; with a Rosary to be prayed at 4pm. Funeral services will be 9am, Monday, December 14th at the funeral home. Interment will follow at 11am in Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd., Leavenworth, KS 66048. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Joe was born August 20, 1947 in KCK to Joseph and Rosemary Grzybowski. He graduated from Washington High School and served in the Army during the Vietnam War in Company A, 1st Air Cavalry. He earned the Air Medal, the Army Commendation for Meritorious Service, and the Vietnam Combat certificate; he also was involved in a program studying the effects of Agent Orange. Joe attended St. Rose of Lima in his younger years. He owned his own garage and gas station for a time and was a very well-known auto mechanic in the area. Joe was also very involved in building stock racecars for the local racing circuit. He loved sports, especially KU basketball, Royals and the Chiefs. Joe greatly enjoyed watching his great-nephews play football.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rosemary Grzybowski; his sister, Delores K. Ott; and his brother, William C. Grzybowski.
Joe is survived by his sisters, Mary Ann McClain (Thomas) of Basehor; Diane Faulkner (Michael) of KCK; Barbara Pitcairn (Randy) of KCK; his brother, Michael J. Grzybowski (Jessie) of KCK; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews and his beloved dog, Roscoe.
