Judy was born June 15, 1950, at St. Mary's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, passed away surrounded by family. She was the cherished daughter of Melvin A. Taylor and Johnie Lee Fields, both of whom predeceased her, as did her siblings Gary Taylor, Nancy Lewis, and Danny Taylor.
Judy’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was the proud mother of Christina (Mayes) Lucas, Jessica (Mayes) McCormick (and her husband, Darin McCormick), and Adam Mayes, and she deeply loved her five grandchildren: Steven Willis III, Allison Lucas, Emily Lucas, Cherise Conover (and her husband, Matt Conover), and Ryan McCormick. Judy’s legacy lives on in her great-grandchildren: Averi McCormick, Grace Conover, Olivia Conover, Sylas Baker, and Zayah McCormick, each of whom brought immense happiness to her heart.
Judy graduated from Argentine High School in 1968 and spent her life embracing the simple joys. She loved shopping, playing bingo, and socializing with friends and family. A true game show enthusiast, she could often be found enjoying her favorite TV programs with a sweet treat in hand. Above all, Judy treasured the time spent with her children and grandchildren, and her love for her family was unmatched.
Though her presence will be greatly missed, her warmth, laughter, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Judy’s legacy of love and devotion to her family is a gift that will continue to be passed down for generations.
A gathering of family and friends for Judy will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Chapel Hill - Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112.
