

Justin Keith Brickey, 32, of Kansas City, Kansas was taken from us too soon on July 5, 2016 in Manhattan, Kansas. Funeral services will be 11:30 am, Tuesday, July 12th at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, KS 66112, with visitation preceding the service from 9:30-11:30am. Interment with Honors will be held at 1:30 pm at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Road, Leavenworth, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Operation Homefront, 1355 Central Parkway S, Ste. 100; San Antonio, TX 78232.
Justin was born January 16, 1984 at Lakenheath AFB, England, to Willis K. and Karen T. Brickey. He graduated from Pleasant Hill High School, Missouri, in 2002 and enlisted in the Army in 2003. While in the Army, Justin served in Iraq and achieved the Iraq Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, the Army Commendation Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, as well as many other decorations and medals. He was honorably discharged after 8 years of service. He was a Senior in the Engineering program at K-State and was part of the Engineering Club and Iraqi and Afghanistan Veteran’s Clubs. When he had free time, he enjoyed playing the banjo, saxophone, the guitar, and loved spending time outdoors. His ’73 Volkswagen Bug was his pride and joy.
Justin was preceded in death by his grandparents and is survived by his parents, Willis and Karen Brickey of KCK; his sisters, Khara Sahin of Las Vegas, and Jenna Leonard of Colorado Springs; his brother, Jonathan Brickey of Topeka; his nieces and nephews, Kaan and Asya Sahin, and Isabella and Gabriel Leonard; his best friend, Shelli Partridge of Lawrence; as well as many other family members and friends.
