Ms. Hardy was so kind and pleasant to be around. She always had a cheerful smile and a good sense of humor. She was easy to talk to and made you feel welcomed. My deepest sympathy to the Hardy family.

I, too, spent many days in Mrs Hardy’s office as a diabetic and she was always very helpful and always had a smile on her face.

When I was diagnosed as a diabetic at 16, I was devastated. It was difficult adjusting and knowing how to manage things. I had many visits to Ms. Hardy’s office that year. She helped me tremendously as I learned how to manage my blood sugars, injections, and finger sticks. I’m thankful for her. My prayers to those she leaves behind.

Sweet Ms Hardy was literally my “at school mom” and took care of me and so many others. I was plagued with persistent sore throats and she always gave comfort and a smile and relief. She also provided a quiet safe refuge when an anxious awkward kid just needed to take a break or just someone to listen.

This breaks my heart at a time when life-long caregivers are needed more than ever. Heartfelt sympathy to her family and others she touched over the years.

Karen, Cody, Craig, Kylie, and Karen, July 1999

When Aunt Karen would visit her sister, my Grandma Joyce Shaffer in the summers, I got to spend lots of time with her. She and Uncle Don even took me with them to their beach condo one year. I always looked forward to spending time with Aunt Karen . She was such a kind, thoughtful, generous, loving, and fun person to be around, and a great example to a teenager. She had a natural grace and ease about her. She will be greatly missed, and I’m glad to know that if she cannot be with us here, that she is now in Glory with the Lord. Until we meet again, Aunt Karen, you will be loved and cherished in our hearts! Thank you for your indelible mark on my life!

To the Hardy Family,

I count myself blessed so many times over since I got to teach with Karen at Sumner for so many years. Beloved, trusted, depended on, your Mom and Grandma brought so much joy, humor, care, and healing to so many who needed all of the above. I loved slightly scandalizing your Mom with my outrageous student passes to the nurse, and she never failed to write back an excellent retort. I feel honored to call her a friend for so many years, and I am so thankful that you were blessed to have her as your mother.

Heather, your mom was amazing. I’ll never forget how nice she was to me every time I’d come to your house back in the day, as was your dad. She was wonderful. Praying for you and your family during this sad time. Love you. I’ll see you this week.

Karen, Mike and I will miss you so much. You were such a wonderful neighbor. We loved talking to you when it was nice outside .we know you are not suffering anymore. The Good Lord has his arms wrapped around you now. I'm sure you are healthy now. Rest in peace our beautiful neighbor. ❤❤❤😭

Karen was like a sister to me. We shared our faith, good times and life experiences for the past 45 years. I take comfort in knowing she is in Heaven with her Saviour and that we will see each other again. Rest In Peace my friend!
