

Kathryn Norene Mason Finch, born June 3, 1923 in Downs, Kansas, passed away March 21, 2024 in Lawrence, Kansas.
Kay was born to Nazair and Flossie Mason. She grew up in Atchison, Kansas. As with others of her generation, she supported World War II by working as a telephone operator at Camp Phillips in Salina, Kansas. Her adult life was lived as a mother, a volunteer, and a business owner in both Kansas and Hawaii.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her five brothers, and her daughter, Sheila Finch.
Kay is survived by her remaining three daughters, Eilene Ramsey of Ottawa, Lila Knott of Bonner Springs, and Melody Frese (Dan) of Bonner Springs, Kansas. She leaves three grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.
Important organizations in which Kay actively participated and garnered many awards were Eastern Star, Ladies Society of Brotherhood of Locomotives/Engineer Firemen, Camp Fire Girls, National Automatic Laundry Cleaning Council, American Field Service, Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. She was a long time friend of Bill W.
