Kerry Nelson Reaves was born in Bakersfield, California on December 16, 1959. After graduation from McFarland High School he joined the US Navy to serve his country. While there he met and married his wife of over 40 years, Susan. When he completed his tour, he made the decision to focus solely on his wife and family, their two sons – Kristopher Nelson and Daniel Lawrence, and their daughter Stephanie Leanne.
Kerry was known by all for his tireless work ethic, which was fueled by the desire to provide for his family in a way that they could always count on him 100%. He ensured he was always present for them and was a big role model in all their lives.
Outside of the military, he was a chef for PB&J restaurants, and worked at Sysco of Kansas City and Vistar Food Group in Riverside, MO. He loved going to Chiefs games, long car trips, his motorcycle, fishing, and completing DIY projects around the house. In the last few years of his life, Kerry fought and won a battle against cancer. The cause of death is undetermined at this time.
He leaves behind the love of his life, Susan; his children Kristopher (Linda), Daniel (Riki), and Stephanie (Kam); and his grandchildren Sophia, Adelyn, Kristopher Jr., Amelia, and soon to arrive great granddaughter Alaura. He also leaves behind his mother Janice of McFarland, Ca, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, in-laws, too many to mention. He will be missed by so many, including his family at Vistar and many friends. His dogs, Teddy and Jenny, will miss him also. He will be greeted in heaven by his deceased father Kay “Dude” Reaves, his brothers Kelly and Kevin, and his beloved boxer Buster.
