Klaus Sack, 78, of KCK, passed away July 7, 2014. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 9th at Chapel Hill-Butler, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 10th at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Klaus Sack was born in Germany, grew up during WWII, and studied culinary arts as a young man. As a chef, he worked throughout Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, and cruise ships. Klaus arrived in the US with only his chef’s instruments and a suitcase. He rose to executive chef at the Muehlebach Hotel, where he met his wife, Carmen, and they made their home here for life. Klaus was executive chef at the River Club, and a founding member of the Greater Kansas City Chef’s Association. He was among the first wave of chefs who transformed the culinary landscape in Kansas City. Klaus was respected as a consummate professional who was creative and passionate about his craft.
He was a beloved family man, devoted husband and father. Klaus was preceded in death by his parents Hermann and Anna and son Klaus, of precious memory. He leaves behind his wife, Carmen, of the home, daughter Christina and son-in-law Mike, of Shawnee, and two grandchildren, Jacob and Wolfgang.
