

Larry Gene Crouse, 79, passed away on March 23, at his home in Basehor, KS. He was born to Leroy and Blanche (Atkins) Crouse on January 26, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Center High School in 1957.
Larry worked for Safeway Grocery Stores until he went to work for Mission Highlands Supermarket - “the little store” and worked there until they closed in 1985. He then worked for the Shawnee Mission Schools as a custodian, retiring in 2003. He then worked at the Agricultural Hall of Fame until he retired again in 2011.
Larry was active in Wyandotte County 4-H as both a community club and project leader. He was a deacon, trustee and longtime member of Haven Baptist Church and First Southern Baptist Church of Lansing. He currently attended First Baptist Church of Basehor.
Larry leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Edith (Evelyn) Crouse of the home, his daughter Amy Crouse and son Jeff Crouse (Carrie) and his two grandchildren, Adam & Ashleigh Crouse, all of Basehor. He also leaves his sister, Colleen Gregory of Amsterdam, Missouri and many nieces and nephews who he loved very much. He was preceded in death by one sister, Donna Essenpreis of St. Louis, Missouri and a brother Paul Crouse of Kansas City, MO.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, March 27, 2017 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas 66112 with interment immediately following in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6-8 pm, Sunday, March 26, 2017, also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wyandotte County Fair Association Scholarship Fund 13700 Polfer Road, Kansas City, KS 66109 or the Lawrence Humane Society 1805 E. 19th Street Lawrence, KS 66046.
