Larry was born January 15, 1943 in Laramie, Wyoming to Elliot and Margie Kelly. He graduated from University Prep School in Laramie and attended the University of Wyoming. Larry moved to Kansas City after college and started working for Santa Fe Railroad. He retired after 30 years as a computer technician and scheduler. Larry was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was active in the Primary Purpose AA Group and the Astronomy Club of Kansas City. Larry was an avid reader, enjoyed photography, and went mountain and glacier climbing at every opportunity.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elliot Kelly in 1949, his step-father, Lamont Haagensen in 1990, and his mother, Margie Haagensen in 2010.
Larry is survived by his siblings, Sandra Wursten (Douglas) of Colorado Springs, CO, Carol Haagensen of KCK, and Ken Haagensen of KCMO; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
