Leah Victoria Lanaman was known as many things to many people. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Although we were not ready, God called her home suddenly on March 31, 2022 at the age 77. To family and friends who knew her best, Leah will be remembered as a bright shining light who always had a smile, a kind word, and a helping hand.
She was born to Frank and Katherine Fuerstenberg on March 17,1945 in St. Joseph, Minnesota. Leah was raised on the farm with her four sisters, Margaret, Judith, Marlene, and Cheryl. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1963. After high school, she moved to California with her sister Marlene.
Leah met John through friends on a blind date, and on September 20,1975 they exchanged wedding vows in their home in Laguna Hills, California. After several years, Leah and John moved their family to Kansas City, Kansas where she got to build her dream home. Leah always worked hard and was an amazing mother to her children. She was blessed with five: Daniel, Chrissy, Aaron, David, and Suzzanne. Another blessing for Leah was the gift of nine grandchildren: Ruben, Aaron, Andrea, Brian, Kyle, Alex, Zachary, Danielle, and Taylor.
Leah loved to laugh, dance, and have a good time with friends and family. She never met a stranger. She loved celebrating her birthday on St. Patrick’s Day. She was a talented artist and her family cherishes her oil paintings. Leah enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations with John. It was a chance for her to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included Hawaii, Costa Rica, and Puerta Vallarta. After John retired, they moved to Tucson, Arizona where she loved the warm, sunny weather, margaritas on the patio with her husband and sister Cheryl, and the southwest art and lifestyle.
Leah’s faith was important to her. She was a member of St. Patrick's parish for more than 30 years. We know God welcomed her kind soul with open arms into his kingdom.
She is survived by her husband, John, her children Daniel, Chrissy (Ruben), Aaron, David (Leah), Suzzanne, and her grandchildren Ruben, Aaron, Andrea, Kyle, Alex, Zachary, Danielle and Taylor.
Leah was a wonderful and kind person, an individual who will always be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who is an unreplaceable part of their lives. She leaves behind a legacy and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Leah.
