

Lois Alene Picklar, 91, of Basehor Kansas passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026. Lois was born on August 31, 1934, to William and Mary Rosanbalm in Pleasant Hill Missouri. Lois graduated from East High School and married Thomas J. Picklar on August 14th, 1954, and celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Lois loved not only being a wife and mother but also working outside of the home and pursued many careers. She worked at Prudential Insurance, was a Library assistant for 15 years at Arrowhead Junior High where her kids attended and worked in the advertising department at Champ/Standard in Edwardsville Ks. After leaving Champ/Standard, Lois went to AVTS school of cosmetology. After attaining her license, she worked as a beautician at Providence Place in Kansas City Kansas for 25 years. Lois was someone who enjoyed staying active and being around others, which is why she didn’t officially retire until she was 78. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Basehor. Lois will be greatly missed by her family, church community and so, so many friends. She will be remembered for her smile, laugh, love of shopping and style.
Surviving family are sons Michael Picklar, Steven Picklar (Barbara) and a daughter Gayle Marx (Gary). Grandchildren Ryan Marx (Katie), Darren Marx, Stefani Kilgore (Sam) and Courtney Picklar (Gabi). Great Grandchildren Nolan Marx, Dylan Marx, Olivia Kilgore, Miles Marx and Harrison Kilgore. Along with nieces and nephews she adored.
Lois is preceded in death by her husband Tom, parents William and Mary, Brother Bill, sister Joyce, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Virgil and Gloria Hare.
Visitation is at 10am March 12, 2026, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 11am and burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens 701 N. 94th Street Kansas City, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Appl Orchard Hospice.
