

Lois I. Tarwater, 84, of KCK passed away October 3, 2012 at Presbyterian Manor. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 5 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 10-11 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vitas Hospice.
Lois was born January 9, 1928 in Skidmore, Missouri to Henry and Lila (Taylor) Rowlett. She has been a Kansas City area resident for 62 years. Lois enjoyed working and tried a variety of careers, from working at a soda fountain at Crown Drug, Woolworth, TG & Y and finally Bethany Medical Center for 17 years as a receptionist, which she loved. She enjoyed taking care of her home and garden, watching old movies, crochet, embroidery, flower arranging and cooking. Lois’s cooking was always popular, her homemade cream pies, fried chicken and famous potato salad.
She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Lila, siblings Mary, Rosie, Nina, Marvin, Delvin and Norville and former husband Louis C. Tarwater, Senior.
Lois is survived by her children Sean McClanahan, Louis Tarwater, Jr. and his wife Jeannie, Barbara Lytch and her husband Jim, Sheryl DeLeon and her husband Mark, sisters Armida Wardlow, Gloria Workmen and Shirley Hill, as well as eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren.
