As a niece out west I haven't see Lurline in a long time.  But through occasional visits on the phone I know what a special person she was.  Her voice never changed...she was always cheerful, with a positive attitude, and always interested in what was going on with me, never mentioning her own circumstances.  You should all be proud of the life Lurline led and the wonderful person she was.

To the Nitschke Family -

My sympathy to all in the death of Lurline.  She was a beautiful person, both inside and out.  I taught at Welborn grade school with her in the 50's and 60's.  My Aunt, Blanche Haines taught with Lurline at Welborn, also, and they became good friends. It is ironic that Blanche passed away at the age of 101 on Oct 31,2013.  How fortunate we were to have these wonderful ladies for over a century.

I was a student of Mrs. Nitschke's kindergarten class of 1958-1959. I have never forgotten her of all the teachers that I had thru out my years of school. She made a big impression on me at that young age. I have often thought of her over these many years. You have my heart felt sympathy, thoughts and prayers in this time of your loss. Carol Y. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family, Robert. It's been a long time since we went to Welborn together. But the memories are still there.

I was a student in Mrs. Nitschke's kindergarten class at Welborn the very first year of her teaching! She was such a wonderful teacher! She was so proud of her three boys. She was proud of our class, too. I remember being at the corner grocery store, "Roy and Tom's" with my mom when I was in the 1st grade. We ran into Mrs. Nitschke in the meat section of the store. I had a library book with me. I wanted to show my former teacher that I could read now, and I read a page to her. She was so proud of me and made me feel so good. I am retired now from teaching as well. My sympathy to your entire family as you celebrate her beautiful life.

To all of Lurline's family we send our love and sympathy.  She was a joy and a true friend to Jerry and I!  She spent much time in our Hardware store at Welborn and we had a lot of fun and enjoyed our time with her.  Later when we sold the store and then started doing odd jobs for people she kept us busy and several times she would have us stop and get her a CHILI DOG at Sonic! Lurline will be missed.  Lurline taught my son at Welborn and later in life we became friends, shopping,laughing and going to lunch.  She was a wonderful friend and a beautiful soul.  I have great memories, thanks to Lurline.
