Manuel Becerra Jr. of Gladstone, Missouri passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021. He was 91 years old. A visitation will be Thurs., 6/24/21, from 5:00-8:00 pm at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St, KCKS 66112. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday starting at 10:00 am at St. Andrews, 6415 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119. Interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Manuel was born on Oct. 4, 1929 in Kansas City, Kansas to Manuel and Ascension Becerra. He served in the United States Marine Corps for two years and was a Korean War Veteran. After the service, Manuel was a member of American Legion Post 609. He was also served as a parishioner at St. Angus Catholic Church. He enjoyed cars, trains, and collecting coins. He loved to read books and was a self-taught mechanic. Manuel had a great sense of humor and an open and curious mind. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Manuel was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Eliza A. Becerra in 2005; daughter, Stella L. Grado in 2016; grandson, Aaron Becerra; great-grandson, Anthony Sanchez; brother, Alfred Becerra; and sister, Amparo Lopez.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Hector Becerra; grandchildren, Bernard Grado Jr., Christopher (Melissa) Grado, Leslie (Jimmy) Cervantes, Elicia Sanchez, Phillip Becerra, Brian Becerra, Jeanette Abarca, and Jesse (Katrina) Becerra Jr.; sister, Helen (Albert) Avila; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; along with many other family members and friends.
