Maria Consuelo Deleón Diaz, 89, of Bonner Springs, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 7th at St Patrick Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kansas. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street in Kansas City, Kanas, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.
Maria was born December 12, 1929 in Huejucar, Jalisco, Mexico to Juan Deleón and Crispina Herrera. She moved to the United States in 2002, and has since lived in Riverside, California and San Francisco, California, as well as the Kansas City Area.
She enjoyed growing flowers in her garden, cooking, sewing and crocheting, and will be remembered for the many blankets, Doilies and Napkins she made.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Del Refugio Diaz when he died in 2002.
Survivors include 5 sons, Ricardo Diaz, Jose Diaz, Jose R. Diaz, Mario Diaz and Heriberto Diaz; 4 daughters, Irma Carrillo, Evelia Diaz, Angelina De Santiago and Erundina Diaz; many grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
