Maria Guadalupe Payne

Maria was born on August 28, 1951, in Olton, Texas to Maria Guadalupe (Carmona) and Florencio Hernandez. She lived a life marked by strength, resilience, and quiet grace. A proud cancer survivor, Maria faced life's challenges with courage and determination, inspiring those around her.

She found joy in life's simple pleasures. Maria loved garage sales and shopping, and she enjoyed spending time watching TV and cooking for those she loved. Music brought her happiness, especially the songs by Elvis Presley, Alan Jackson, and Vince Gill. She also cherished time spent fishing, finding peace and contentment in those quiet moments.

Above all, Maria loved her family. She treasured every moment with her children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be held close forever. Her warmth, kindness, and loving spirit touched many lives.

Maria will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is preceded in death by her husband Russell Payne; mother Maria Guadalupe Carmona and father Florencio Hernandez; her siblings Anselmo Hernandez, Enemencio Hernandez, Reymundo Hernandez, Paula Hernandez, Florencio Hernandez, Martina Hernandez, and Maria Elena Hernandez, Florencio Hernandez, Regina Casares.

Maria is survived by her sons Jack Tibbetts (Kymberly) and Reuben Payne (June); grandchildren Nicholas Rickels, Tyler Rickels, Alek Tibbetts, Jackson Tibbetts, Selyna Tibbetts, Shyann Tibbetts, Robert Payne, Mikaila Payne, Reuben Jr. Payne, Xavier Payne; great grandchildren Bella, Logan, Luna, Russell, Warren, Kaden, Aspen, Ryder, Andrew, Chloe, Jaely, Isla; siblings Eloy C. Hernandez, Juana Galvan and Irene Hernandez.

Services will be held at Chapel Hill - Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, KS 66112, US, on April 29, 2026, with Visitation from 9:30 am to 10:30 am and Funeral Service beginning at 10:30 am. Burial will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd, Leavenworth, KS 66048, US, on April 29, 2026, beginning at 12:30 pm.
