

Marion J Hoffman, 90, Kansas City, KS, passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Marion was born January 29, 1927, to Henry and Eva (Reardon) McGraw in Hoge, KS. The third of ten children, she graduated from Jarbalo High School and was a one room grade school teacher at 18 years of age. She married Bernard Hoffman May 6, 1950. After several jobs, she retired from her position with International Brotherhood of Boilermakers after 18 years. After retirement, Marion stayed active by volunteering with St. Patrick’s Church and was active with her grandchildren. Marion was a member of St. Patrick’s parish for 69 years. Known by many as MeMa, she was the inspiration for MeMa’s Bakery in KCK. Ever loyal, she remained an avid fan of KU basketball and the KC Royals. She is preceded in death by both parents, brothers Henry, Jr., Eugene, Daniel Edward and James McGraw, and grandson Michael Matney. Marion is survived by her husband Bernard Hoffman, children Edward (Denise) Hoffman, Paul (Paula Jakovac) Hoffman, Annette (Gary) Matney, David (Candee) Hoffman, Philip Hoffman, Loraine (Mike) Waldeck, Michele (Craig) Boeding and 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with funeral mass at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 94th & State Avenue, Kansas City, KS. Burial to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorial contributions go to St. Patrick’s Grade School in Kansas City, Kansas or Sister Servants of Mary 800 N. 18th St. in Kansas City, Kansas.
