My condolences to Martha’s family and many friends. 
I worked with Martha for many years in the operating room at Providence. Although she was a quiet person she had strong presence in the OR. She generously shared her expertise with coworkers and was friend to the many people we worked with.

Martha invested in me during my years at Providence Medical center.
She would take me to plays and musicals.
My favorite was, and continues to be, Phantom of the Opera.
She was a valuable role model to me during those years.

Growing up, Martha was our neighborhood call when one of us kids got sick. I remember hearing stories of her helping my parents when my sister and I had seizures as kids. Her smile and laugh were infectious and she was a part of the glue that kept a whole lot of kids alive but also allowed us to be kids - swimming, horseback riding, lake trips, bike rides, snow forts, sledding.
As an adult, she would tell people embarrassing stories of my childhood (which I still think is funny) and talk about me like I was still 12 (only my sense of humor didn’t age) 
She was a woman of faith who faced trials and losses no mother should carry, but she loved her kids, her grandchildren and everyone that would let her, as they were. 
She was a well respected as a nurse for many years, and still recall her being the nurse for my kids when they had surgeries, even my dad’s gall bladder. I remember the doc told me that “my nurse knows your family and told me that we can’t mess this up” That was Martha. 
May she rest in peace and be reunited with her son and husband. Love to Chad, Phillip and Claude. Your mother has earned her eternal rest.

Martha was a special kind of person. I remember in the operating room, in the middle of the night, I was providing anesthesia and Martha was assisting the surgeon. On the table was a young woman being operated on for a ruptured tubal pregnancy.  After the bleeding was controlled, the walnut sized non-viable fetus was removed and passed off to Martha. With the greatest of care and compassion for life, she turned away from the table and with sterile water she silently baptized the fetus.  Although, I do not believe in infant baptism, the magnitude of that charitable act has never been forgotten. RIP Martha in the arms of a loving savior.

I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Martha. She was truly one of the best people I have known—kind, compassionate, and an excellent nurse who touched so many lives through her care and dedication. I had the privilege of knowing her for a very long time, and I will always remember her for her goodness, strength, and the comfort she brought to others. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. Please accept my deepest condolences during this difficult time.

I met Martha in 1999 at Providence Medical Center where I was a brand new nurse in the OR. Martha took me under her wing and showed me how to scrub and the ways of the operating room community.  She was no one to be messed with. It was Martha’s way, which was the right way or it wasn’t.  
Martha became a friend and we attended many gatherings together, and I will remember her wit and candor.  I remember when Martha had fallen and broke her hip and she was on the mend and we were at a gathering of retired nurses, CRNAs, Anesthesiologist, etc. and she says “you remember those Sunday morning hips we would get called in for?  Guess what, I was one of them.
Martha, may you rest in heaven with the greatest Healer of them all. And family and friends may you seek peace in knowing she was loved and cherished by many.

I’m so sorry to hear of your Mom and Grandma’s passing.
I’ve known Martha since we opened Shear impressions in 1980. She was a friendly, kind and she loved her family. She will be missed.
